This is it…a ritual-worthy moment.

Koehler Books and IngramSpark are releasing Shanghaied today! This sentence is bigger to me than it is to you. Do best-selling authors become jaded to it? And why Tuesdays?

“Release: to allow or enable to escape from confinement.” Whoa! Set them free. Out into the world. Let them go.

When I held an Advanced Review Copy of Shanghaied in hand, this publishing journey became real. I spread the ARCs out: to friends; to ask for endorsements; to the wooden boat festival and the booksellers’ tradeshow. They left MY hands.

Today? They go on their own. And they take me with them. So, I feel different, extended out into this world as I have not been before. It reminds me of when I became a parent. Hopefully, I’m reaching out into a future beyond me and my time.

So, this morning calls for a ritual: lighting a sky lantern and a glass of champagne with Liza. Go Shanghaied, go!
