Launch Day
I’ve prepared to go to sea many times. All those preparations bring into sharp focus that moment when the last mooring line is let go. “Okay. This is it. Here I go.” As a sailor, I knew how to prepare. New to publishing, I know next to nothing. Writing Shanghaied, I didn’t realize I would be in this moment again. With the help of my publisher, Koehler Books; with my publicist friend; with my website designer; and my beloved’s support, I am making new preparations I know little about. I bolster my hopes with a quote I first heard from poet David Whyte, “The only real risk is to NOT hazard oneself.” So, here I go, out to a new sea.
