Next up? Audiobook.

One book club asked if Shanghaied is available as an audiobook. It sounded like a good idea, so the answer is: not yet.

So far, I’ve talked to two studios that advertise for this purpose and found that it is expensive. One in Toronto, the other in South Carolina, but this can be done remotely. I can have one of their narrators read or read it myself. I’ve imagined these characters for so long; I can almost hear their voices in my head. Not that my voice sounds like theirs (or even like my own, when I hear a recording of it), but I’m leaning toward recording Shanghaied in my own voice. They are confident they can edit, clean up, and package my recording to Audible’s standards.

I blew past any semblance of a “budget” thousands of dollars ago, but I want to do this. It’d be a whole new market, might help the film idea, and hopefully help book sales. I’ll not afford it now, but hopefully, will soon.
