I’m “just” sayin’…

Stunned. Angry. Tired. Unforgiving. This is not good. I wish I knew what to write here, what to say that would help. Help how? Help who?

I can’t ignore the election that just went down. But also can’t bring myself to turn on the radio or read the headlines. The pundits are having their heyday, but they don’t know what went wrong. It’s just their job to talk. For perspective (and hope), the one I listen to is Heather Cox Richardson.

If only I could wake up in four years…and find something left of democracy and the rule of law to pick up. He did say, “If you vote for me, you’ll never have to vote again.” But Trump is fallible enough that he’s not the problem. He’s just the mascot. The problem is Project 2025. Will the people who voted for him/it ever admit that they made a mistake? That they bought a lie? I doubt it.

When Toni Morrison despaired of “W’s” re-election, her friend answered, “No! This is not the time for self-pity or fear. This is precisely the time to go to work.” It’s gonna take more than postcards, bumper stickers, t-shirts, and hope to turn this debacle around.
